Senior citizens to be honoured

VIJAYAWADA: The Hindu, in association with Akshara International School, will be presenting a cultural programme and honouring the senior citizens at S.R.R. & C.V.R. Government College, Machavaram at 4 p.m. on Thursday, on the eve of International Day of Older Persons.

This will be done as a part of the several programmes being organised by Vayovruddha Charitable Trust at the same venue from 3 p.m. The trust is conducting many competitions like fun games and fancy dress for the senior citizens aged above 70 years. It will also be honouring 13 centenarians.

NTR University of Health Sciences Vice-Chancellor I.V. Rao will be the chief guest for the function that will start at 5 p.m.

The Hindu has taken the opportunity of bringing together the children of Akshara International School to entertain the senior citizens in a manner of honouring them.

Helping hands

The children will not only be presenting some specially prepared cultural programmes but will also be handing over a few articles needed for everyday use to the senior citizens.
