Geriatrics in India - do you know?

In the Annual Report of Ministry of Health and family welfare (MOHFW)
for 2009-10 of 377 pages, not even one paragraph is devoted to
geriatric care -- and we, senior citizens, are about a ten percent of
the country's population and we are prone to be afflicted with all sorts
of diseases.

There is a passing mention that Ram Manohar Lohia Hosptal, MG Inst of
Medical Sciences, Wardha and CGHS clinics at Timarpur and Jankpuri
(both in Delhi) deal with geriatric cases. Other places we know of
are: Heritage hospital in Hyderabad and Govt General Hospital Chennai
- Geriatric wing.

IGNOU has been churning out PG Diploma holders in geriatrics every
year. I wonder where these specialists are employed? Our members Dr Ms
pushpa Hemadri and Dr Jaya Rao may have answers as both are
geriatricians we know.of in this group.
